It doesn't help to get too familiar and to make friends instantly. You need boundaries between you and the rest of the world. Other people are far too messy. It's ALL ABOUT LINES. Drawing lines in the sand and praying like hell no one crosses them.'

(or at least that's what the theory states... as for the practical side, personal experience teaches you that it's the most difficult thing in the world not to get involved, especially if you're one of those who care about the sun that shines or the birds that sing, announcing the spring.)
